Commercial real estate services firm Studley will represent National-Louis University in the relocation of its west suburban campus to 85,500 square feet at 850-950 Warrenville Road in Lisle.
The university will move from its existing location, at 200 S. Naperville Road in Wheaton, to the new facility in January 2005, according to a press release.
"This is an exciting new chapter in the history of National-Louis University," said Curtis McCray, National-Louis president. "The west suburban campus in Lisle will be an outstanding example of modern college campus design that will accommodate traditional-age students and our busy adult learners. It is a perfect blend of up-to-the-minute educational technology and a very comfortable and comforting human space."
The campus site is just off Interstate 88 and across from the Morton Arboretum.
NLU engaged Studley as a strategic partner in developing a comprehensive plan to optimize its real estate usage and meet the university's goal of providing forward-thinking educational services. In addition to the new west suburban campus, Studley assisted NLU in evaluating the efficiency of its 139,000-square-foot downtown campus, at 122 S. Michigan Ave., and is consulting the university on its Wheeling and Evanston facilities.
"After looking into several site options, the Lisle location clearly resonated as an ideal location in which to attract and retain students," said Steve LaKind, Studley's executive managing director. Studley negotiated the 15-year lease at an aggressive rental rate, with growth and contraction rights and exclusive building top signage with exceptional tollway exposure.
The three-floor facility will house 42 classrooms, four computer labs, a library, conference rooms, a public cafe, student lounge and welcome center — in addition to administrative space. Classrooms will be equipped with high-tech LCD projectors and screens and ports for laptops.
"The new campus brings to light the fact that NLU is becoming a leader in multisite progressive education," LaKind said.
NLU's arrival at 850-950 Warrenville Road will bring tenancy to 100 percent in the 99,000-square-foot Class A building, part of the 75-acre Corporetum office campus owned and managed by Prentiss Properties.
Geoffrey Adaire, Studley's corporate managing director, Joe Arnstein, senior managing director, and Steve Chaiten, associate, assisted in the transaction. Prentiss Properties was represented by Tom Maschmeier.
