Institutional Research Review Board

seal1Welcome to the Institutional Research Review Board (IRRB) website. IRRB ensures compliance with National-Louis University’s policies and procedures for conducting ethical research involving human participants.

Every research investigator involved in any aspect of human subject research at NLU must submit a protocol to IRRB that includes appropriate application forms, and informed consent documents. This applies to faculty and staff, doctoral students, masters students conducting thesis research or large action research projects.  Students conducting research as part of a class, and faculty and staff collecting institutional data for self study and accreditation are not required to submit a protocol.

Whether it is for self-study and accreditation, or personal research, NLU faculty and staff who wish to conduct a survey using the WebSurveyor program must contact Terry Kiwala, Director of the Office of Institutional Research (IR). If the survey is being conducted for personal rather than institutional research (i.e. publication or presentation), in addition to the survey request to IR, the application needs to be made to NLU’s Institutional Research Review Board (IRRB).
