The Gidwitz Center for Urban and Community Development at National-Louis and the Illinois Youth Advocate Program are proud to present a provocative discussion on The Violentization of Criminals: Intervention and Prevention featuring Prof. Lonnie Athens of Seton-Hall University. The forum will be held Monday, October 24, 2005, 5:30-8:30 PM in the Chicago Campus Atrium (122 S. Michigan Avenue, 2nd Floor). There will be a reception at 5:30, with the formal program beginning at 6:30.

Prof. Athens is the author of The Creation of Dangerous Violent Criminals and Violent Criminal Acts and Actors Revisited, both published by the Illinois University Press. Dr. Athens, who frequently serves as an expert witness in murder cases, was the subject of Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Rhoade's biography, Why They Kill: The Discoveries of a Maverick Criminologist.
